Al-Taj News – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi revealed details of conversations he had with military officials and the US ambassador in Cairo before the Muslim Brotherhood came to power.
El-Sisi spoke about his predictions at the time regarding the future of the group and power in Egypt, during the Egyptian Armed Forces’ educational symposium marking the anniversary of the October 1973 War.
El-Sisi explained that, while he was in charge of the Military Intelligence Department during the 2011 revolution, the US ambassador in Cairo used to ask him about his predictions regarding the figure or movement that would assume power in Egypt. He noted that he had predicted the Muslim Brotherhood’s rise to power, but did not believe it would remain in power for long.
He said that his assessment was based on his conviction that the challenges facing the Egyptian state were greater than the ability of any political movement, president, or group to overcome them on its own, but were not greater than the ability and will of the Egyptian people.
